Conference on flowing waters in Hamburg

The conference was organized by the NABU (Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.) and supported by the WATERPRAXIS project. About 100 participants were informed about the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in the district of the river Alster, about the ecology, fauna and flora as well as ways how the open public can participate in renaturation activities.

Report of workpackage 4 ready: Analysis of existing water protection action plans and realized water protection projects

The report summarizes the main findings of analyses of selected existing regional water protection action plans covering defined regional target areas and it prepares consolidated recommendations for implementation of good water management practices in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR).

WATERPRAXIS participated in the conference „Wetlands for clear water“„Wetlands for clear water” was the title of the conference that took place on 24 – 25 March 2011 in the Hanseatic city Greifswald. The conference was organised by the Grűne Liga and the University of Greifswald. The main question addressed by the conference was: how can proper wetland management reduce total nutrient load to the Baltic Sea and tackle eutrophication?

WP3 meeting and management group meeting in Roskilde

WP3 meeting and management group meeting in RoskildePartners of the WATERPRAXIS project met already for the second time in Roskilde and held a work package 3 (WP3) meeting in the nice snow-covered town. During the summer the WP3 leader had collected input from all partners for the analysis of River Basin Management Plans in different countries. This input will be combined into one report on good practices in River Basin Management planning.

WATERPRAXIS participation in a meeting in Southern Sealand/Denmark on the implementation of water plans

As part of the Danish country study on the implementation of the water plans (WP3), NERI attended a meeting regarding selection of wetland areas for nitrogen reduction. Local politicians, interested organisations and heads of environmental administrations from eight municipalities from Southern Sealand were participating in the meeting. During the meeting the public Danish radio station 'Danmarks Radio P4 Sjælland' conducted short interviews with some of the participants - e.g. Anders Branth Pedersen (NERI).
