9 December 2009, Lyngby/Kopenhagen, Denmark
The 15th Conference of the Parties (COP 15) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will meet in Copenhagen, Denmark from the 7th to the 18th December 2009 where, among other things, a post-2012 climate change framework will be agreed.
Since the subject matter of climate change is closely associated with sustainable water management, including river basin management, the Research and Transfer Centre ’Applications of Life Sciences‘ of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences is organizing this event, parallel to COP15. The Symposium is organized under the auspices of the ’International Journal of Climate Change Strategy and Management‘ and the ’International Climate Change Information Programme‘ (ICCIP). It will be held at the Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby (DTU), hence being close to Copenhagen, the official venue of COP 15.
The specialist symposium on ’Climate Change and Sustainable Water Management‘ aims to:
- discuss the links between climate change and sustainable water management;
- present the work of some of the organizations working in the field;
- introduce some of the on-going projects and initiatives dealing with the matters of sustainable water use and sustainable river basin management;
- identify areas where action is needed so as to allow a better understanding of the impacts of climate change on water systems and of the measures that may be adopted so as to promote sustainable water management.
