Scientific Article on River Basin Management Planning published

A scientific article based on a comparative analysis of river basin management planning processes carried out in the Waterpraxis project has been published. It shows the strengths and weaknesses of different institutional arrangements for integrated water management in the Baltic Sea Region countries.

WATERPRAXIS project successfully completed

The WATERPRAXIS project has been finished in January 2012. The project partners invite you to browse through our website.

You can find final reports of all work packages on the page “final results”.
Furthermore, all outputs from the project, the presentations and other material from the various events are available in the “downloads and results” section.

WATERPRAXIS final seminar in Vilnius

The final seminar of Waterpraxis took place at the Amberton Hotel in Vilnius (Lithuania) on 11-12 January 2012. About 50 participants discussed about the experiences and results gathered in the 7 Baltic Sea partner countries within the project life time.

Last Newsletter of Waterpraxis online!

The Waterpraxis project is already in its last months. When the project started, the first River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) were under preparation. Implementation of these plans required by the EU Water Framework Directive is now underway in all Baltic countries.

Project Partner Meeting in Warsaw

2011 Project Partner Meeting in Warsaw20 - 21 October 2011, Warsaw, Poland

The project partners of Waterpraxis met for their last management group meeting in Warsaw to discuss the last upcoming outputs of the project as well as the final seminar, which will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, in January 2012. After active discussions during the meeting, the partners are now back home and keep working hard to finalise the results of the project.

The team of TU Lodz also invited Mr Janusz Ciesielski, head of Mniszkow commune, to take part in the meeting. Mr. Cielsielski is actively involved in the Polish project activities and thanked the project for its work.

Summer course 2011: 40 participants from the Baltic Sea Region took part

Summer course 2011: 40 participants from the Baltic Sea Region took part The Research- and Transfer Centre “Applications of Life Sciences” of the HAW Hamburg organized the summer course on Sustainability, River Basin Management and Climate Change in the Baltic Sea Region, which took place from 20th to 24th September in Hamburg. The international course offered the opportunity to inform about up-to-date topics in the area of sustainable development, climate change and River Basin Management.

For protection of water resources in the Sulejowski Reservoir

13 September 2011, Mniszków municipality, Poland

Seminar: for protection of water resources in the Sulejowski ReservoirThe seminar summarizing the results achieved in the project WATERPRAXIS took place on Tuesday, 13th September 2011. It is a part of the European Baltic Sea Protection Programme and is based on implementing effective, innovative ways to reduce emissions of pollutants into rivers and lakes in the Baltic countries. During the seminar the technical documentation of the planned investment, which has been funded by the WATERPRAXIS project, has been handed over to the authorities of Mniszków municipality. Its implementation will contribute to the improvement of water quality in the Sulejowski Reservoir.

Germany takes Presidency of Council of Baltic Sea States

From the 1st July 2011, Germany takes over the one year rotative presidency of the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS). The opportunity will be used to promote the Baltic Sea Region project WATERPRAXIS and its activities. Details on CBSS can be seen at: www.cbss.org.

WATERPRAXIS Management meeting and workshop on “River Basin Management in the Baltic Sea Region“

30 - 31 May 2011, Lulea, Sweden

WATERPRAXIS_Management_meeting_and_workshop_on_River_Basin_Management_in_the_Baltic_Sea_RegionThe partners of the WATERPRAXIS project met in Lulea, Sweden, for the 5th management group meeting to agree on the workplan for the last period of the project. In the evening the project partners visited a hydro power plant with several interesting measures to secure fish migration. The partners also had the chance to see the really beautiful waterfall “Storforsen”.
